Kathleen and her daughter, Jenn, on her wedding day

Kathleen and her daughter, Jenn, on her wedding day, March 2010

I discovered my passion for wedding planning when my daughter got married. We spent one year planning her wedding, and my daughter and I planned it all from start to to finish. My daughter’s wedding vendors told me I should become a wedding planner; they had never seen anyone so organized and said I would be perfect at the job. So I decided to pursue it, and I started assisting local wedding planners at weddings and helping friends plan their daughters’ weddings. I was even approached by a publisher to write a quick-reference guide on planning weddings. My Wedding Planner guide was published in May 2011 and sold more than 1,000 copies in the first year. I provide a complementary copy to all my clients.

I also entered an essay contest regarding my newfound passion and was selected to be on the Today show with actress Marlo Thomas and celebrity wedding planner David Tutera on June 20, 2011. It was a very exciting time for me, and David Tutera gave me a wealth of information and was a great mentor to me.

I attended Broward College and became a Certified Wedding and Event Planner, and I started my own business, Weddings by Kathleen, at the ripe old age of 53, in August 2011.

At my “first paid wedding” under my new business, the caterer said to me, “I knew you were an excellent wedding planner when I saw how detailed your timeline was for the wedding.”

I consider it a privilege to help a bride with one of the happiest days of her life. I am very detailed, passionate, and organized and will treat your wedding as if it was my own daughter’s wedding! Please feel free to contact me at (954) 434-9029 to schedule a free, no-obligation consultation to learn what I can do for you.
